Cranky pickup transformed by new Bosch fuel pump
For the last couple of years my 98 Ford Ranger was very iffy about starting. Finally the fuel pump just stopped working altogether. A friend who knows a lot about fuel injection systems told me what to check out and it did become clear that the problem couldn't be due to anything else. It was quite a job that required removing the bed, but as soon as soon as I got the fuel pump replaced with the Bosch unit it fired up very quickly and now starts almost instantaneously as soon as I turn the ignition key. I'm very happy with it now.

Installing this new igniter solved several problems for me. My oven had been erratic in operation for about a year, then it stopped altogether about 3 months ago. When I was researching the problem on youtube, I stumbled across an explanation of how the igniter turns the gas valve on when the igniter gets hot enough. If the igniter develops a higher resistance due to aging, insufficient AC current flows through the gas valve to turn it on. When I tested the AC current flow, it was below the requirement to turn the gas valve on. I replaced the igniter and it immediately allowed the gas valve to turn the oven on and it works perfectly now.
