Great Hydroponics With A Really Cool Touch Screen and Program Automation!
1 of 1 found this helpful The Miracle-Gro AeroGarden Bounty is turning out to be a really good product. Setup was easy with the touch screen and the written instructions were very clear. It came with a 9 pod seed kit (Gourmet Herbs Seed Pod Kit) and I set the programming to an herbal garden to utilize the included pods.
The light is really bright for a typical 45W, however It is not a soft light as you would have in a reading lamp. It is a very white LED light, and the plants obviously love it!
All seeds have germinated except for the Chives (I see something green in the pod, but it just did not take in time). If I wanted to (which I still may), I could ask Miracle-Gro to replace that one pod that is not growing (the pod/seeds have a warranty/guarantee on them) and they would send me a new one.
Both cilantro's were the first out of their pods and basil was a close second. Both parsleys came in last. After a certain number of days (maybe 12 or so) for the germination mode to take place, the AeroGarden Bounty program automatically went into a high growth mode which waters the pods a lot more than in the germination mode. The plants are now really thirsty (and growing rapidly) and I have to add water more than before. Really a cool item. The fresh non-GMO herbs really taste great!
The programming is also customizable if you are utilizing the sold-separately custom pods ready for your own seeds. You can also utilize this AeroGarden Bounty for starting your own outdoor garden with an additional purchase, of course. Lastly for your additional purchase, there is also a book that has some recipes and herb tips from the AeroGarden website which I bought for this.
If you cook a lot at home and/or love to grow things year round, I highly recommend this unit. Right now, with 8 of the 9 pods starting to really produce herbs, I am having a hard time utilizing it all. But there are ways to freeze the herbs which we may need to try shortly.
Please note: For any plants that grow their edibles below ground (potatoes, radishes, etc.), you won't be able to utilize this item.

A Really Awesome DVD Player - The OPPO DV-981HD DVD Player
1 of 1 found this helpful I had done my research previously and I knew what OPPO was all about before purchasing the OPPO DV-981HD DVD player. I have been needing a player from them a long time mostly because I am an electronics geek and an electrical engineer by trade.
Before buying a Blu-Ray player from them, however, I first just wanted a simple DVD player that up-scaled the signal through HDMI to my 1080P Samsung HDTV, had the ability to play a lot of disc types, had specialized processing of video (Faroudja), and its exceptional audio output was flexible enough to give an output for optical or fiber.
This used (this model is not built anymore, darn) excellent condition DVD player fit the bill perfectly. Although it was a little more money than some, the quality build of this DVD player is second to none in today's mass manufactured world. While holding it, it just feels like it is well engineered - solidly built with precise button controls. The video is a bit softer than my Sony PlayStation 3 DVD output and similar to an older higher end Panasonic that I had from about the 2008 time period (it also had Faroudja video processing), but I believe this can be changed in the OPPO DV-981HD DVD player if you want. However, I believe the softer video produces more life-like scenes. It plays real quiet and there are plenty of features on the remote to get things done. Although I have not had a real need to tweak the picture and the player's functionality, it does have plenty of settings.
I am very pleased and will look for a Blu-Ray player from them in the near future. I may never go back to the others! Ever! Nice job OPPO!
