Masculine, strong, library worthy storage
I have purchased over 25 of these for my DVD library needing to use less storage than their original cases. Tried slim-line plastic cases but these boxes hold more in less space and can be stacked because they are so sturdy. Go together very easily and the snaps are strong and secure and form a box tight enough to keep dust from the discs stored inside. I find they hold 175 discs each when placed in paper envelopes which have the plastic, see through circle on the front. They look like studded leather so look good in plain sight in my den. Corners on the lids have metal reinforcement. All materials used in their construction seem to be of high quality. They come with a sturdy label for the front which is a metal attachment and another larger piece of the same label material so that you can change your original label as you need in the future. They're manufactured packaging is six to a cardboard box so I learned to order mine in groups of 6. A real bargain for the price.
A couple of downsides: There is no way to keep discs upright in a half filled box but I just store my extra empty paper holders in the unused space. When stacked, they do tend to stick together top to bottom because of the material they are made from but come loose with just a bit of leverage tipping the top box front to back. As supply for this product has become limited, I have ordered extras just to have them as my collection grows. I may even get a few more.

Good player but not an internal recorder
I bought this machine specifically to transfer my VHS tapes to DVD. I purchased the remote prescribed by the online manual for the machine, printed out a hard copy, all 123 pages of it, but following the instructions did not produce the on screen menu shown in the manual. The machine plays both the VHS and DVDs clearly but does not copy to DVD the contents of a VHS tape. Other reviews stated you must have a remote to instruct the machine to transfer as there is no button on the machine to simplify this process which is a sad design flaw but even with the remote, the machine is incapable, in my experience, to perform this function. Not the machine for my purpose.

El Cid
This hard-to-find classic is beautiful in it's photography, costumes and sets. Filmed on an Epic scale the likes that we will probably never see again without the use of computer-generated graphics, it delivers a story of love, legend and myth during Spain's fight for Independence from the Moors. This limited collector's edition has been re-mastered in it's imagery and sound. It has a couple of problems here which must have been impossible to correct. First, it was originally filmed in a format that was much wider than normal so even by putting it into the widescreen format, the characters have been compressed into a somewhat out-of-scale elongated shape that one gets use to as the film progresses. The other noticeable fault in the audio re-mastering is that the beautiful soundtrack overwhelms the dialog throughout the picture so that the listener is jolted between what is being delivered by the actors and the heavy orchestration; much like going from a regular TV program to a commercial. Overall, however, these faults can be overlooked in order to see this seldom-seen epic tale delivered in such scope as to be compared with Ben-Hur, Cleopatra and Gone With the Wind. Charlton Heston is at the top of his career after filming Ben-Hur and Sophia Loren couldn't be more beautiful. The extra disk in this set gives great behind-the-scenes information if you are a movie maniac like I am.
