Best of British Music

This is English light music at its best with many familiar melodies plus a few less familiar. Some of the items bring nostalgia, having been used as radio signature tunes including that for 'In Town Tonight' fame whose title Ebay rules prevent me from mentioning! This is one of the stirring marches which also include 'The Dam Busters' and 'Oxford Street'. These feature alongside more peaceful melodies like 'Springtime in Angus' (recalling Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother), plus 'By the Sleepy Lagoon' (Desert Island Discs). The CD has clarity and precision despite the fact that some of the pieces were recorded nearly 40 years ago.
