A solid album to showcase Petula Clark's talent
A great album with well-produced songs by Michael Curb and Don Costa. Petula's composition "Song without end" has a nice Melody and instrumentation with a sense of melancholia feeling to it. "Wedding song" is a bit folky ballad with Pet sounding great plus the backing vocals, being these a solid element throughout the álbum, so well worked. "Solitaire" is a quiet ballad by Sedaka/Cody with astounding moments by Petula, nice string section in it. "Don't hide your love" is a positive easy listening song by Sedaka/Greenfield. "Shelter" has a nice atmosphere in an easy going wave. Mother of us all" by Ed Whiting has a nice string section once again and a very human lyric with a nice choral ending. Van McCoy's "Baby, I'm yours" is fine, so is William Robinson's "My guy" with strong backing vocals. "Your Heart Is Free Just Like The Wind" (Chevalier/Shakespeare) has a nice vocal work by her with a nice harpsichord accompanying her, a soft tune. "Nothing succeeds like success" (Hatch/Trent) is another easy listening tune form the álbum that really captures your ear and sticks on your mind, sunshine. Petula's composition "Song without end" has a nice Melody and instrumentation with a sense of melancholia feeling to it, very catchy for me. Leslie Bricusse & Anthony Newley's "It's a musical world", from "The good old, bad old days" is a happy song that becomes a very solid ending for the LP.
