About
I am a retired architect and disabled Vietnam combat vet that dabbles in model trains in HO scale, and, guitar music. I am not a big store, this is something I do to support my own hobby. Please read all instructions to bidders BEFORE placing a bid.

Life Like HO 50 ft Evans Box Cars
These HO boxcars are the original Life Like boxcars before the take over by Walther's Trains.
In other words, they have the older style talgo trucks with NMRA style couplers and plastic wheel sets. The one piece plastic body is free of flash, neatly painted with crisp lettering, and a welcome addition to any 60's era train layout. By plugging the holes where the snap in talgo trucks go, I was able to drill these out in prep for a 2-56 screw in order to mount Athearn Genesis Roller Bearing trucks and body mount Kadee couplers. With a few stick on weights added to the floor, these cars are now as contemporary as their Walther's brethren. To shim the couplers to the correct height I inserted a piece of plastic commonly found as a twist tie on bread and roils. Cut to match the coupler box this lowered the coupler sufficiently so that I could use a KD #5. I used the hand file to lower the truck bolster level with the adjacent center frame rail, then, added the topo of the KD coupler box with the lug over this area to act as a bolster for the new Athearn trucks. The hardest part is making sure you file the bolsters flat and not at an angle or the trucks will not sit right and the boxcar will tip.
