This is a remarkable CD set and value. 3 concerts by Bar kokhba by the mighty Zorn and Masada plus 3 more forming the Kokhba sextet. There are so many CDs by Zorn, etc. and all, in their own unique way, are technical masterpieces. If you enjoy any of the past Masada albums (or electric masada), etc. you WILL enjoy this set. Also, I'm a big fan of the Naked City albums and while this set doesn't have the "noise" of those sessions, it's still amazing avant garde Jazz. If you buy one of the 50th birthday CDs, make it this one.

WOW, Masada is amazing
All of John Zorn's Masada work is amazing. Unfortuantely, it's difficult to find the original releases because they are out of print so this is my first original Masada CD (I have several live works by various Masada teams). One of my favorite songs in the Masada set is Khebar, amazing to hear it in it's original format (look for it on youtube... one listen and you will want this album too :)).
Masada: John Zorn (alto saxophone); Dave Douglas (trumpet); Greg Cohen (bass); Joey Baron (drums).
Recorded at Avatar, New York, New York on August 1, 1996.
