Does The Job
I bought this pedal for my ham radio transceiver to use as a transmit switch foot pedal. The circuit is very low voltage and amperage way below the ratings of this switch. I mounted it to a 12" x 12" half inch plywood base with a rubber anti slip pad on the bottom. Now I can talk on the radio and have both hands free for logging my contacts on my computer and making adjustments to the radio.
Not exactly industrial quality but for my purposes, it's more than adequate.

Programming
2 of 6 found this helpful This is a great little radio especially for new hams. The only drawback is the learning curve for programming off the keypad. I wish Baofeng would reconfigure their menu system from #1 to #5 sequential to the most popular programming pattern..... 1- Freq, 2- Simplex or Duplex, 3-Tone type select,4-CTCSS Code, 5-Channel location. Otherwise, programming with the programming cable with CHIRP or Baofeng's software is a lot easier.
I have 3 Baofengs and use them where I don;t want my $300.00 HT getting lost or damaged. I will probably get a few more of these for use on MURS and GMRS channels I'm licensed for.
This radio is tough, long battery life and really easy to operate. For under 30 bucks, a bargain! I do suggest investing in the programming cable. PC programming is far easier and the only way you can tag the channels in Alpha/Numeric form.

Perfect for Ham Radio USe
1 of 1 found this helpful Being too lazy to solder PL-259's all day, I decided to order this RG8X with factory installed connectors. RG8X is a lot easier to run than RG8U and it has the same low loss qualities.
Workman Seems to be known for their CB radio accessories but they've branched out into products for ham radio. I've had no problems with this coax and will probably order more. Since Radio Shack folded, you're at the mercy of online sellers for this kind of cable.
