Just the right contemporary twist to a very old tale
2 of 2 found this helpful This purchase was a replacement for the VHS version of the same movie. It has additional features that we haven't explored yet. Grandkids have loved the Hercules tale even from the time they were barely more than toddlers. It's a bit edgy and suggestive in places, but not overly suggestive. The naive but honor-bound hero is irresistible and a reasonably good model for portrayal of the way even the most "heavenly" or "hellish" relationships develop on various levels. The heroine, Meg, represents a character that is a bit jaded but heart-of-gold in essence, with charm and vulnerability that endears her to the audience. James Woods' villain is absolutely brilliant, with dialogue that is sharp and clever--loving every minute of hating him.
The modernized version of the rhythm-charged chorus adds to the fun.
Definitely worth having in the collection for repeated viewing.

Food for Thought
Bought this as a gift for relative who already has a bookcase full of cookbooks.
This one is a little different, as it gives lots of commentary and information on food lore, rather than simply concentrating on recipes. The binding is beautiful, with gilt trim and gold ribbon place marker. Content is very interesting and presentation very appealing.

Wholly wholesome!
What's not to like about this warm and fuzzy tale. Kids find Beethoven irresistible, and he's a great, safe companion for them during the time they spend being entertained by this film. Good choice for the whole family.
