The Host by Stephenie Meyer (2008)
1 of 1 found this helpful I felt the beginning was a little slow, but soon enough it gathered speed.
Character developement was strong, and I like the way she described things around her, to make you feel 1st person, and a part of the story.
Stephenie is so gifted and talented. Just wait till you read the Twilight series. you won't be able to put it down. You might even take a vacation in Folks, Washington. As I was reading her book, I felt compelled to type in the city name in Google, and sure enough she described the geography of the town to a E. She put Floks on the map. She has a fan club and website.

Great season one, I hear season 2 is even better.
Without giving too much away, this is a quirky, fast moving story about a nurse who is overworked and must relay on drugs to keep up with everything. I believe she has seen too much suffering and had to work too many long hours in order to fulfill everyone else's dreams. She means well, and has a basic code of honor, but circumstances work against her at every turn. I liked it so much I have season 2 on the way.
You could almost laugh (at the antics) if you weren't crying at the human drama. Well written and well played,
