Almost no glow, looks slightly grubby.
This is an old item, so I don't expect much, but the glow-in-the-dark function is almost nonexistent. The newer, but unattractive, switch plate it replaced, glowed all night after being charged by moderate ambient lighting, this one next to nothing - even after extended charging with a high intensity l365nm UV flashlight. With a UV/purple laser pointer, I can write on the previous one from across the room (15 feet) with dramatically greater effect than this one shows with the laser pointer an inch away. Under ambient lighting, this plate always looks dirty, though washing doesn't help. But the almost Art Deco design is appealing, better-suited to our ~1920 house than the other's rounded corners and slick surface. The creamy color also goes much better with our living room paint than the other's greenish-yellow. So I'm going to forego the glow for now, and hope a better option turns up.

Good play value
After spending a few months playing with a couple of old iPhones and an old iPod touch that my sons-in-law had given me, mostly getting change of pace from my primary devices, which are Android, I started thinking it would be nice to have more storage and the current version of iOS.
I like maps. Offline maps can take a lot up a lot of storage space, and to get the GPS means getting a phone. So pretty much, cost and OS pointed at the 4s.
Not needing another phone, per se, meant it didn't matter that it was Verizon - I was actually looking for a Sprint, since they tend to be even cheaper, but any carrier phone would do, so long as I didn't actually have to deal with the carrier.
It has worked well on the car dashboard, as an offline GPS, and I've had quite a bit of fun with games, bird watcher apps, and miscellaneous stuff. With it's shirt-pocket size, it's with me about as much as my much bigger and more capable phone, and it's getting quite a bit of use
More than half the storage has been used, but to be honest, a lot of that stuff doesn't need to be there - either it duplicates things on my Android devices (which are mostly better) or I don't really need it when wifi isn't available.
But it's fun, and I got it to have fun with.
