Ultimate Gaming Experience
1 of 1 found this helpful Without a doubt, the PlayStation 3 is the culmination of years worth of gaming wrapped up into a tough "George Foreman" exterior. The XMB is clean, smooth, and intuitive, add the ability to change the background image, and you have a really unique way of personalizing your profile. The 80GB hard drive holds all of my music, and THEN some, and the ability to plug in and utilize external hard drives was a bonus. The game play looks, feels, and responds amazingly. High definition movies and games blow away anything I have experienced previously. I am a little disappointed by the lack of music playback during games. I would love to listen to the music on my hard drive while slashing through hordes of enemies, but I've heard that Sony plans to release an update down the road that will allow this feature. Sixaxis is a very intuitive idea, but not many games utilize it properly. The original Sixaxis also lacks the Dualshock feature, but that has been recently fixed with the Dualshock 3 Sixaxis controllers. Online features are growing substantially for PS3, and with the release of Home soon to come, Sony will be revolutionizing the idea of online gaming. Perks aside, the price is a major issue for many consumers considering the PS3. I also had trouble justifying the price of the system, but when it comes down to it, $420 dollars for a used PS3 80GB Motorstorm bundle is actually cheap. Consumers have to realize that 3/4ths of the price comes from the Blueray capabilities. An average BDDVD costs around $299 retail. Comparing that to the PS3, you are paying $299 for a Blueray player, and only $120 for the PS3.
