Reliable Compression for stage & studio:
I've used one of these compressors every time i play, for years now, and it continues to function perfectly. Excellent use at beginning of chain with conservative settings to tame highs and transients. Very easy to set and forget. I simply cannot play without front-end compression, and this unit fits the bill. Runs off of AC power, which might be an issue for some folks, but in my studio its fine. The Gain circuit can get a bit nasty sounding when set higher, but for me that's not an issue because i don't use this unit for compression "effect" or as a booster, only as a dynamics control at the front end to smooth the signal for where its going. There are several other 'high-end' floor compressors on the market, the Keeley Pro and the Cali units being two, but for me, this CM unit has more than paid for itself.

A Great Little HiFi Headphone Amp:
1 of 1 found this helpful So far, it's working perfectly. I mention this because i'm usually suspicious of Chinese-made items, but hopefully they got this one right. It's good because it's small and light, about the size of an old transistor radio; easily deployed (i adhered it to the underside of my office desk with velcro, with the controls pointing out); and has good headroom. You can pump any streaming audio directly into the "Audio In" using 3.5mm cable, then feed the headphone output directly into your headset, or into an Aux Input of some other device. The rear of the unit has stereo RCA in/out jacks if you need that. Coupled with the good sales price, this amp is a pretty good buy.

Inexpensive but usable
I'm not sure how beneficial this review will be for the reader, since this is a "custom" guitar build. The Canadian builder i bought this from offered it at a low price, so i took the plunge. It's a true Strat body (Alder). The Lace Sensor p'ups are a bit artificial sounding, so i don't think i'd go with them again - I'll probably swap them out. The neck is a non-Fender neck with a slim "C" profile. The neck was in terrible shape when purchased - action & intonation were horrible and required a full set up, but the worst thing were the fret ends, which were so sharp you could slice a raw pot roast with the neck. My local guitar tech ("Lucky Pick") corrected this and the neck now plays well. Otherwise, the neck is good quality and plays well, so anyone who likes ultra-thin profiles would bond with it. The guitar was fitted with the Eric Clapton mid-boost circuitry. I could live without this feature, but i'm not bothered having it. The 2nd tone control rolls off highs very quickly, and most of the pot's range is useless because the sound gets muted and muddy almost immediately. Well that's it. I ended up with a modified Strat for a low price that's basically playable, although i'm still not totally sold on this neck. I'll probably end up buying a modern Strat neck and sending the guitar back to my tech.
