    Heavy but OK.
OK, I have used these before but they always belonged to some one else so I thought it was about time I bought my own, first of all there is some assembly you have to do. It isn't much to do, and it's not difficult, in fact if you can't put this together you shouldn't really be taking your motorcycle apart. The reason why I haven't used mine yet, is because on assembly I was concerned about the strength of the 'R' clips that hold this thing together, the ones that come with it are nothing more than thin gauge wire, and when I mean thin, I mean like paperclip thin.! I also gave the shafts and their housings a light smear of grease there seems to be a lot of parts that slide against or rotate with other parts and these are all bone dry straight from the factory there is no reference in the instructions about doing this greasing but being old school I just felt happier doing it. But DON'T under any circumstance grease the safety catch where it meets the stops on the bottom rail this should be left dry, and keep it dry when in use, any grease or oil that you spill on the bottom rail wipe it up immediately if the hydraulics give way when you have your pride and joy in the air it's only the safety catch and that bottom rail that is going to stop it crashing to the floor.! As I write this review I'm still waiting for the heavier gauge 'R' clips to arrive and when they do, I shall replace the "paperclip" one's that are on the lift at the moment. Then I will feel a lot happier about using it. I can tell you this lift is very, very, heavy and is made of heavy gauge metal, the welding is up to standard and in no way does it feel flimsy, the paint finish is good so the only down side in my opinion is the weak 'R' Clips other people who have bought one of these may NOT consider the 'R' clips weak, it's just for me I feel happier using something a little heavier gauge in place of the factory fitted ones that's all. But apart from the 'R' clip niggle I feel I made the right choice, and there's no reason why it won't last a long time if looked after, and should give good service. Overall I think it's a good purchase and the delivery was as expected.
