best bang for the buck
I got the Z2 because it's significantly cheaper than the Z3 and has all the same features (except that the CPU is 200 MHz slower on the Z2 and the camera lens is not as wide - not noticeable at all unless you are comparing the phones side by side).
PROs
Xperia has good battery saving features allowing you to whitelist the applications you want to have run the background when the screen is turned off.
"close all" button on the app list screen, which I did not see on other versions of kitkat.
Good camera apps

I don't really like the calendar widget as the font is too big and can't be customised.
Too much crapware that can't be uninstalled (e.g. 'What's New' app)- Had to put them all into one folder in the Apps Screen 'Own View'- I know I can root the phone, but don't want to bc I've heard that some camera features will no longer be available.
