OPEN BOX - DiMarzio DP181 Fast Track 1 Pickup For Strat - BLACK
    Jan 10, 2017
Does what you ask it to
I have used the Fast Track 1 in any guitar that has single coil size routing since about 1990. I found the Air Classic humbucker around the same time and it has been my go to Humbucker size pickup as well. The two are very similar in the way they respond to the players attack. The placement of the pickup is key and should be done strictly by the ear and not by what looks right. If all things are put close to the strings the pickup sounds like a bright PAF with P90 type highs. As it is backed away the dynamic range of a single coil is demonstrated. Output is a bit low for a typical humbucker but similar to a nice P90 type. I play mostly jazz but this pickup is very good at playing anything as long as the player knows how to play. It will not hide crappy technique but will showcase quality. It is clear but not overly bright and the lows are not absent but in no way muddy. I have used this pickup in a Tom Anderson Drop Top (Basswood/Maple) a Casio PG510 (Solid Basswood), and a Teton TRS20NT (Semi-Hollow Mahogany with Maple top), in each case the guitars construction is shown but the pickup remains a great tool that works well in each of them. For many years I only used it as a neck pickup but tried it recently in the bridge and was amazed how similar to the Air Classic humbucker it is in both places. Both the Fast Track 1 and the Air Classic are my forever pickup.
Rowin Nano Series Analog Delay Guitar Effect Pedal True Bypass Aluminum Alloy

    Smaller than one can believe
The Rowin Echo pedal sounds like a typical analog delay pedal with a touch more clarity than the norm. The first thing one notices is the size. This thing is really small (2.75" x 1.25") and somewhat endearing when it is put next to a mini-pedal and is about 1/2 the size yet sounds fine. I have used it 2 times now on gigs and plenty at home so here are my thoughts. When on, the pedal seems to give a very small boost which is not noticeable unless you are home recording a solo jazz passage but there is a small boost. The controls are somewhat scratchy even after several attempts to clean them. This does not affect performance unless you are constantly changing your controls. Lastly, while the tone is very good, I personally like a very lite 1-2 tap delay short to just thicken my tone a bit. I am a jazz guy and don't play much rock stuff, this pedal would probably really sound good for a rocker but the slight over clarity is not what I associate with a typical analog style delay. I really like the size and it surely is a good product but probably suits a driven guitar style better than an archtop. Again, the size alone is a winner and the pedal is very nice.

    great small delay.
I always have a analog delay set rather light at about 200ms with 1-2 soft taps that get lost in the reverb. I only use 8" or 10" speakers and keep the lows low so the delay thickens the overall sound. The attempt is to get a tone that lies somewhere between Pat Metheny and Barry Green with a technique that is more similar to Mike Stern. My two main delays have been a Rogue Analog delay and a Behringer Analog Delay for about 10 years. The Rogue is kind of dark and I found the small Moskey Blue Delay to be about the same thing. This Azor is very similar to the Behringer in that it is a touch more present. I like the Azor most when using my archtops and it sounds very nice with all the others, it is very small and does great in front of the amp or in an effects loop. I am very happy and would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a soft analog delay.
