    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9505S (AT80580AJ0736MG) SLGYZ CPU 1333/2.83GHz LGA775 100% OK

Great CPU for upgrade from Core 2 duo
I used it to replace a core 2 duo. The gain in speed is significant for heavy operations. The Q9505S (must have the S!) uses a 45 nm die that makes it run cooler and use a lower voltage and less power. Check with the recommended CPU list of your motherboard to make sure that it is compatible with this CPU. If it is, don't hesitate, this is one of the best of the Core 2 quad versions.
    OCPC BLADE Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1333MHz CL9 Desktop RAM

Double sided ram ideal for upgrading memory on early DDR3 desktops
The first DDR3 motherboards (for example those with the Intel EP45T chipset) could only accommodate low memory density ram. This is the case with my Gigabyte GA-EP45T UD3R that cannot handle single-sided memory sticks of more than 2GB. This 8GB kit is double sided and is compatible with those early DDR3 motherboards. It works well in combination with my old 4GB DDR3-1333MHZ CL9 kit. This has allowed a very successful upgrade to 12GB. That's enough for my needs, but wo such kits installed into the 4 banks would allow upgrading the memory to a healthy 16GB. I love the heat spreaders on those sticks. With lower running temperature, they will provide greater component longevity.
APC Power Saving Back UPS ES 700VA Uninterruptible Power Supply Surge Protector

A decent UPS, but power saving has a major flaw
This UPS works well and is durable. For me this was an upgrade from a previous APC 700VA model that was not power saving. Power saving works by cutting off power to accessories when the computer goes to sleep, or when you turn it off. Unfortunately only 3 surge protected outlets are power saving outlets in this device. None of the power backup outlets are also power saving. For example if you need to keep the screen on in case of a power outage (the general case) you cannot plug it into a power saving outlet. The same will happen with a modem or other devices that you may need to keep going in case of a mains power outage. The lack of power-backed-up outlets that are also power saving reduces the usefulness of the power saving feature to almost nil. Ideally two or three of the surge protected outlets should be power saving (3 of them are now) and two of the power-backed-up outlets should also be power saving (none are now). Let's hope this basic flaw will be fixed in the next model.
