Not built like MAG-LITE's of yesteryear !
3 of 3 found this helpful At first glance the ML300LX MAG-LITE is awesome. It is bright and is smaller diameter than older D cell's. I really like the grip pattern and multi function electronic switch and the fact that it's LED.
I wish that you could program it specifically for the functions you want instead of having to settle for 1 of 4 choices. I would prefer momentary on , hi and low , so had to settle on one of the 4 options.
It should have had the 4 function options engraved on the flashlight , so you have the instructions available and can quickly switch to another option without having to play around to find what you may need at a later time.
Here is the huge downside and why I'm rating this flashlight only 3 stars-
I ordered the replacement glass lens for this light so I'm not dealing with scratches on the polycarbonate lens when cleaning dust and dirt off of it. It should come with a higher quality lens to start with , for a USA made product that advertises that it's high quality.
I can forgive that inexpensive flaw , but...
When I took the lens out to replace it , and saw how the reflector and spot/flood assembly was designed , it made me sick!
The assembly is made of cheap plastic with cheap plastic gears that zoom in and out as you rotate the head its 1/4 turn.
It won't take much for these plastic gears to become stripped out , losing the ability to change between spot and flood.
For 50+ bucks and from a company like MAG-LITE , I would have expected way more !
I'd rather pay a few bucks more for quality than to pay a lot for something that has a serious design flaw and likely won't last.
I was generous by giving this light 3 stars when their choice to cut corners really only deserves two stars...
