Works great!
It works on brass exactly as the instructions say. No need to let it sit longer than the instructions say for brass.
It also worked on the copper I tried it on but it took a little longer. Two to three applications gave me the dark finish I was looking for.
I even tried it on the silvery cast metal they use for anchors in wooden model ships and found that worked sorta. Repeated applications between dryings and it eventually got to a dark metal grey that actually looked pretty good. Obviously it wasn't made for this silver colored metal, but it did work well enough in the end.
Usage and clean up was easy. Instructions were very clear. My nose doesn't work that well but my wife did not even notice an odor from it. (Don't tell her I did this in the hobby room. She thinks I did it out in the office.)
