Excellent electric powered trailer tongue jack
1 of 1 found this helpful I installed the Bulldog 500199 electric tongue jack on a 6,000 pound rated travel trailer. Tongue weight 600 pounds. When unhitching from the two vehicle, I estimate it lifts over 1,000 pounds while disconnecting the ball hitch, etc. (Part of the lift load is raising the rear end of the tow vehicle until it disconnects.)
Installation was easy to replace the manual crank type tongue jack that came with the travel trailer.
About 1/2 hour and a couple of wrenches.
Two minor issues:
1. The motor housing requires installation at 90° rotation from the preferred orientation to avoid interference with the cover for the propane tanks.
2. No information about circuit protection for the power wire to the unit. No in-line fuse supplied.
No fuse amps stated.
I installed mine with a 30 amp inline fuse and it blew out after 6 lifts.
It is possible I was cycling on/off too rapidly. I've also been told that a 30 amp circuit breaker might help prevent premature breaking the circuit.
