Looks like and performs like new from the box. Great buy for the price.
Easy to set up if you follow the YouTube video I found. I followed the video and let the computer set up its own driver in Windows 10. Worked great. When set up, you can print labels from Word by simply setting the page size to the label size in printer preferences.
Also, Zebra has a free label designing program available. Go to the Zebra website and click on support/downloads to find the software for this machine. By working through the instructions contained in the help section, it was easy to create a mailing label with fill in blanks and also a simple book plate identifying the owner. Just take your time and learn each design tool. Takes about half an hour for the whole learning process. Nice program and the pro version is available if you want to spend the money. If you have a dedicated purpose such as FedEx or UPS labels, they have their own software for their particular label so go get it for free. You are supposed to be able to print USPS labels from their Click-n-Ship website. I haven't tried that yet but will the next time I need to ship a USPS package. I was not allowed to include website links to make it easy for you to get the info. Good luck and happy labeling. I am jst figuring out all the ways I can use these large labels.

This Brother printer like all the ones I have had is a good buy.
1 of 1 found this helpful I have had several of the Brother HL-5000 series printers. All have been a good buy giving me long years of service. I do a lot of printing and get 5-6000 copies out of an extended life toner cartridge.
I have two monochrome printers and a color laser printer hooked up to two computers. One of them uses nothing but "used" paper - i.e. paper that ha already been printed on one side. Almost never get a jam and they don't seem to care that the paper is used.

Brother 5240 is a good value
0 of 1 found this helpful This 5240 replaces a Brother 5140 that broke because of a toner cartridge that had sat on the shelf for two long and got stiff. I already had one 5240 and now have two. The 5140 lasted about 8 years without a glitch and the first 5240 I have has been performing flawlessly for over 3 years.
These laser printers may cost a little more than an inkjet but will soon pay for themselves with the savings on toner. I routinely get will over 6000 pages out of a toner cartridge and they are available from LDProducts.com for about $25 so printing cost is low.
