Fun Keaton vehicle with silly quotes.
I was just young teenager when this came out but what I remember vividly was the lines that my class mates were quoting the next day. Don't be surprised if you find yourself chuckling at Roman Marone's accent. Folks will remember Joe Piscopo from his 80's impersonations and has a good sized role. Also Danny Devito and Marilu Henner from the Taxi series. The sight gags are sophomoric at times and the dialogue stilted but enjoy the nostalgia it evokes with the depression era setting.

Great copy of a 70's classic that has has a raw feel and veteran acting!
1 of 1 found this helpful Prefer this original version over the Travolta-Washington remake. While Denzel can do no wrong in my opinion, Travolta was too foul-mouthed and over the top in his performance of the cool-headed Shaw character. Matthau is at his grumbling growling best in this gritty '7o's action flick. I had not seen it in years but wanted to refresh my memory with the other cast members including Ben's dad Jerry Stiller and the put upon mayor of the city who is a dead ringer for Ed Koch at the time. Great blend of suspense and comedy with the best one liner coming from Garber when he first confronts Sgt. Daniels in the squad car!

Poitier classic
In honor of Martin Luther King day, this classic was being shown on several channels. The era might be a bit dated but not the overall theme. It was great to see the interaction between Tracy and Hepburn. Their initial expressions were priceless. As they warmed up to John it was obvious that he would be an accepted member of the family. I bought it because the message is unchanged in forty years. I just wonder if the character of John would be accepted today if he wasn't as perfect and well bred the Yale doctor. The old VHS format gives it even more nostalgia that I miss. Recommended to others.
