Goodyear/Continental Gatorback MEXICAN production line quality control is seriously lacking
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought a Goodyear Gatorback belt a few weeks ago and installed it last week in my car. It was the correct belt, tensioned to factory specs (I have a tension guage) and everything seemed to go well, with no squeaks or anything. The second time I drove the car the belt snapped, with less than 40 miles on it. I have the broken belt in front of me and there is no oil on it, no signs at all of wear or slippage, stretching, etc.
I bought this because I thought it was a genuine Goodyear belt, made in the USA.. Come to find out, Goodyear has subbed out the manufacture of these belts to Continental and these "premium belts" are made in Mexico.
I'd urge people to strongly consider the Gates belts, or even the Dayco belts.

Like most any other Chinese item with a motor....
2 of 2 found this helpful Like most any other Chinese electrical hand tool, the innards on this thing are not that good. I put a small grinding wheel on it to do some 'repair' work on a badly mangled thumbnail, mostly to get rid of sharp edges. In use for 15 minutes off and on, the thing heated up to the point where I had to let it cool off to avoid toasting it. So....it is in the same class of device as a $20 Harbor Freight disc grinder.
For the money this is a great deal though. If you use it for very light work or very infrequently (until you burn it out) it is worth the money. I figure once it is dead I will still have a nice case and the Flex Shaft to use with the Dremel I really want. Vari-speed, comes with a case, and best of all it comes with the extension wand Flex shaft for getting into tight spaces that would be difficult using the unit in your hand. Also, the wand weighs much less than the tool itself, allowing the user to work much longer on a project with way less fatigue.

Pay Attention to the specifications!!
This is a SMALL apartment sized. Google mm to inches conversion to figure out the size of the unit; it is about the size of a decent sized toaster oven. But, toaster ovens designed for the US market are all funning on 110-117 Volts, so they plug right into the wall out of the box. This is designed for the European market, but made in China.
