BATTLESTAR GALACTICA BATTLESTAR PEGASUS PLASTIC MODEL KIT BY MOEBIUS MODELS
    Dec 13, 2016
    Moebius Battlestar Pegasus
Today after a lot of searching for this kit (given that it's hard to come by) I finally have one to stand alongside the Galactica. I did win mine in an auction from a seller in the United States but didn't mind paying the postage costs to get the kit. The Pegasus is larger than the Galactica but it is to scale - just as both Battlestars appear in the television series remake. I debated purchasing a fiber-optic lighting kit but I can get the same effect by purchasing a set of battery powered led christmas lights - I did this to a star wars imperial star destroyer kit to test the effectiveness of the method and it looks like it's lit by fiber-optics. Besides the engines light up white on the outer part and blue in the center - not all blue (the engine lights on the lighting kit are blue). But to correct it - paint the clear engine pieces white on the back then a wash of clear. The kit has more pieces than the moebius galactica kit but would given the Pegasus is over sixteen inches long and six and a half inches wide (the Galactica kit is twelve inches long). But the only issue I have is that the decals break apart while applying them (I had the same issue with the decals for Galactica), I applied yacht varnish to them after they had been placed to hold them there. Also for both the Galactica and the Pegasus I painted them a flat aluminum colour base coat then painted a metallic grey (gunmetal) top coat. And used yacht varnish to seal in the colours.

REVELL BATTLESTAR GALACTICA MARK II VIPER
I purchased this kit given it's identical to moebius models version but cheaper. The pieces fit well with the exception of the control stick in the pilot's right hand as it isn't long enough. You do get a choice of pilots but it would have been nice to have decals for William Adama also as the 7242NC was the viper he flew in the first cylon war (callsign Husker). The only issue I had is when I followed the instructions recommendation and coated the cockpit and wing decals with clear gloss - within minutes of doing so the paint cracked and bubbled and split the cockpit decals. The only one not damaged was the decal on the clear screen as it didn't need painting. So I purchased a winsor and newton acrylic gloss varnish and was able to coat all the decals without any issues - not even with using acrylic on enamel based paints.
