Awesome, under-appreciated product, at a great price!
3 of 3 found this helpful As an endurance athlete, I look for supplements that help to break through plateaus and help me reach my highest physiological capacity.
It acts as a lactic acid buffer, and helps to remove excess ammonia and waste from the body, translating to a noticeable increase in endurance and a feeling of well-being while exercising.
Though almost every top-selling pre-workout supplement on the market contains this ingredient, it is shamefully under dosed, or listed among an assortment of several other ingredients as within a throw-it-all-in proprietary blend. I highly recommend taking 3g-6g of Citrulline Mallate for its intended effects (I take 3g before exercise and another 3g during).
Nutricost's Citrulline allows for solo usage, or even as an addition to one of your favorite pre-workouts, for pennies on the dollar. You can tell its purity by its sour taste - which is very recognizable.
Psychologically, I would describe its effects as both relaxing and helping you to feel much more coordinated. I still feel the familiar lactic acid "burn" during strenuous exercise, but it feels far more tolerable. When I "gas out", my muscles begin feeling considerably less relaxed. Citrulline helps me to overcome this somehow by allowing the muscles to keep relaxed, allowing me to push through the areas where I would otherwise have to stop. Because energy expenditure is not being wasted on muscle tension, physiologically it leaves you feeling as if operating much more efficiently. This assists with breathing - since the muscles surrounding the airway are significantly more relaxed - as well as helping your body to feel far more coordinated.
All-in-all a wonderful product at an unbeatable price!
