These goblets have a nice weight and are thick, tall, sturdy, and stylish. Hold more than 8 ounces.
1 of 1 found this helpful After having to offer a visiting friend a drink from a cheap, plastic fast-food cup, I knew it was time to buy some glasses. I decided to check out eBay before buying another easily-broken set from a discount store.
These glasses hold more than eight ounces and have a nice weight to them. There aren't any obvious seams like cheap glasses have. They are thick, sturdy, and stylish. The cut-work not only makes the glass beautiful, but also helps in gripping the glass.
I use these as "everyday" glasses. I'm confident that these are thick enough that I won't break them with regular use. And, BONUS!!!... These have actually helped me to drink more water,: I've always found it to be distasteful and wasteful to drink water from a plastic bottle. Drinking that same water from a cool, smooth glass that's full of "tinkling" ice cubes is so much more pleasant than drinking from a loud, crinkling bottle with a jagged rim that cuts your lips.
So, "Yes", I'd recommend these, but to adults, only. They're too tall and too heavy for a child to handle. The manufacturer recommends "hand-washing only", so if you're strictly an "everything goes in the dishwasher" person, don't get these... It's not that I think they would likely break, it's that the indention under the foot would hold water, even after the drying cycle has finished. If you have hard water, over the years you'll end up with concentric circles of hard water stains on the underside of the glass.
