Historically valuable; lacking in drama
1 of 1 found this helpful This is of historical interest for any lover of "Jeanne d'Arc". The original recording was in 1943 -- during the War in Belgium! -- soon after Honegger composed the music. And it is in the original French. The remastering is technically good.
The wonderful Prologue is missing from this CD. The performance lacks the emotion and drama that can be so compelling to listeners. I prefer the English translation, to hear the beautiful words. I recommend the Vera Zorina - Seiji Osawa edition, recorded in 1966 (5 stars). It is exciting and haunting and unforgettable; exceptionally good..

Impressive power package for a modest price
A happy surprise -- high quality, excellent performance, good control, stable and sensitive. Very useful voltage and current ranges. This power supply is a lot of product and use for a modest price.

Flawless and moving
The performance of "Noye's Fludde" is flawless. The composer himself participates in the direction. "Golden Vanity" is new to me -- it is fun in a youthful way, again with Britten's personal involvement. Wonderful to listen to.
