West Bend Stir Crazy Popcorn Maker Machine
    Dec 11, 2015
    Basic Design Flaws
Yes, it pops corn. However, two design flaws annoy. First, the cooking area is not flat. If you look closely at the photo, you can see that the bottom curves upward, so the stirring wand does not cover the entire area on which the corn rests. As the wand rotates, it pushes some of the kernals up onto the curved area, where they stay and don't pop. To get enough kernals to pop, have to shake the entire machine (making sure that the lid doesn't come off) throughout the popping cycle to make those stray kernals fall onto the flat cooking surface. For some reason, some popper kernels get stuck under the stirring wand, too. (I had another brand popper years ago that had a completely flat bottom, and didn't have this kind of problem. Figured the designers should have tested this machine and found out the curved bottom doesn't work, and the wand needed to be closer to the bottom.) Also, the lid rests in a narrow groove in which popped corn always lodges. It's a pain in the ... you know ... to get those kernels out when cleaning the machine. Were it not for this groove, a paper towel would do the trick nicely without marring the finish. Would send it back, but that's a lot of hassle. A simple product such as this, which has been around for a LONG time, should not have these flaws. Simple testing would have made them evident and the product could have been re-designed appropriately. Guess that would have cost West Bend some extra bucks, bucks they preferred to keep in their own pockets. Grrrr ...

Samsung Network Extender 3G Signal Booster SCS-2U01for Verizon Wireless SCS2U01
    Aug 09, 2017
    Doesn't Work At All
I do not know whether or not this product works. In my new house, I got only 1 bar or no bar on my Verizon Wireless phone. I next got a techie friend to lend a cable long enough to put this unit in windows on all sides of my house, which made no improvement in the bars on my phone. He told me that it might have to do with Verizon cell tower placement; an online map showed that the nearest Verizon cell towers were 20+ miles away (east and west). Although the signal is weak, the phone did work (with too-frequent dropped calls), so I expected this unit would boost that weak signal to an acceptable level. It did not. Perhaps the online info about this signal booster should suggest checking online tower maps (of which I had not been previously aware) before buying this booster. I switched providers from Verizon Wireless (with whom I've done business for many years) to AT&T, and now get 3 bars on my new phone. Huzzah!

    TV Ears 3.0 listening system
    Jan 01, 2017
    Mixed Results
I've used TV Ears products before. They usually do a very good job of making television dialogue MUCH clearer and MUCH easier to understand. However, the in-ear design isn't particularly comfortable, and the cost of replacement covers for the ear pieces are outrageous. The main issue with this set is that it suffers (and the user suffers, too) from a short circuit that causes buzzing noise to come-and-go at any time. Believe this particular set may have a manufacturing defect. When these things work, they're great for someone who usually misses much of television dialogue, no matter how high the volume.
