Great for a casual punching bag user
They do protect well. I am not boxing, but, I do hit a small standing bag, for pleasure. I found the finger tip area a bit confining, that's why I didn't give 5 stars, clearly these are not intended for serious sparring. I have them for fun, and, they ARE fun.
