Great for full hand on pistol not so great for extra round.
1 of 2 found this helpful I love the fact that my little finger is no longer hanging and not on the handle. That was my main purpose in purchasing the mag extention.
The secondary purpose of being able to have an extra round in the mag isn't working out so great. I find if I load with 6 rounds I have no feed issues no matter what ammo I use. But if I load with 7 rounds I have FTF issues on the 2nd round about 25-30% of the time, granted I have only tried a few types of ammo so far and a few hundred rounds. I find the results are slightly better at the range than hand racking, but that can be due to an inconsistent rack. I also found I had fewer FTF than my wife. I attribute that to she is a new shooter and may have been limp wrist shooting. I was unable to observe her super closely as I was loading.
I have tried with both the original feed plate and spring and an aftermarket feed plate and spring kit. The aftermarket kit is set to add 1 extra round in the mag also. I believe that I get slightly better results with FTF with the aftermarket kit when loading the extra round but I never have any issues if I only load 6 in either setup or 7 with the aftermarket spring kit alone with out the mag extension. Please note that both the mag extension and the aftermarket kit add 1 extra round each, but when both are used together I still am only able to get 7 rounds in the mag not 8. Also I have 2 mags that I am setting up identically in these trials with no difference which mag I use.
Being that I like the feel of pistol with the mag extension over without it and I like the original feed plate over the aftermarket kit, I am planning on only loading with 6 rounds for carry and keep testing at the range with different ammo.
