Not bad for a 4 year old smartphone
1 of 1 found this helpful I like the fact that this phone combines bluetooth, wifi, and evdo all in one. I can use the wifi in my house on my own network without nedding to worry about being charged for any connections and downloads. It also has a lot of free programs that you can use. They range from Iphone type apps to mp3 editing software. Beware though, you have to sort through a lot of these programs for ones that aren't too buggy.
It is relatively bulky for 2010, but it was debuted in '06 so it's a little dated. The antennea has got to go. Also, the battery is a weak link. Mine was used, so the battery was already on it's lasts legs. I'm hoping that the extended battery will help that aspect. Needless to say, 2 hours in the mall will kill the battery. Dimming the backlight and ensuring the wifi is off can help a bit, but why cripple the phone?
The reason that I bought it was because I wanted a no contract carrier, so given the choices that Cricket had, I decided that 100 bucks could get me a better phone then they offer. For the most part I was right.
Keep in mind one thing though, you will be happier with a few pay programs such as SPB mobile shell. It makes the user interface more finger friendly, and SPB time-the clocks for windows mobile 5 suck. Increased battery life will make this phone a very good (albeit stocky-looking) alternative to a $200 phone saddled with a 2 y/r contract. I'm pretty happy with it.
