Price the main negative
This item is good value if you watch ebay carefully. Retail not so much unless you value the Zeiss name for its own sake. The non-AF Samyang 12mm is the principle competition. It costs way, way less, but manual focus and manual aperture. Image quality isn’t significantly different especially after LR (or other software) applies lens a correction profile.
Good news is the lens has been out long enough that Ebay prices for a nice copy are getting more reasonable. That’s why I’ve decided I can upgrade from the Samyang to the Zeiss.

Only acceptable alternative
0 of 1 found this helpful The genuine Fujifilm version of the NP-W126 is expensive. However . ..
I have thiried party version available in the US; they are not satisfactory with regard to battery life, nor do they communicate with the camera body to warn of depletion.
Bite the bullet and buy the genuine one(s). It will save you aggravation later on.
PS: I understand there is at least one excellent third party brand available in the EU but you can't get it in the vUS.

Like it used to be
A horn loaded, vented enclosure bookshelf speaker that is too big to fit on most bookshelves. Excellent sound quality regardless of price. Best for two channel, kind of large for a 5.1 system and kind of waste to use with a subwoofer.
Fills the user niche once occupied by AR, Advent, KLH even if the technology is radically different.
