The shoe stretcher mechanism is too small to apply the necessary amount of pressure to the bunion area above the arch area of the shoe.
Sometime ago I developed my own technique which thus:
I went to a thrift store where purchased a pair of shoe trees which were appropriate
for a size 13-14 foot.
I then took some pop bottle tops and bound them onto the bunion are of the shoe
tree with some masking tape then, cramed this contraption into the size 12 shoe
with a hammer until the pop bottle caps were right where my where my painful
bunion would be. Then I put a tea kettle on the stove so that the steam would be
steaming the bunion area of the shoe. And after about five or so minutes. And guess
what? Eureka! It worked perfectly! No more discomfort. It worked like a charm!!
