Stock positioning repeatibility when sighting in Scope
2 of 2 found this helpful Initial impressions were excellent. Good mouldings and fairly sturdy. I suppose that having a plastics and manufacturing background, it's easy to be critical but when one takes into account the price and build, it is a reasonable bit of equipment.
OK. here is the complaint.
I've just added a Browning .22 Underlever and started the "sighting in" process. The length positioning of the rear rest resulted in having to sit the stock in the rubber and pulling it back to hit the pistol grip. This became a datum point.
There was no way the stock would find a position where it naturally would sit and create a repeatable lateral and rotational position after sitting it back after a reload.
Note that you cannot reload without lifting off the rifle.
I'm at present fabricating a saddle that will be the exact width as the stock about 5" forward of the trigger.
I've got a 177 Beeman springer and a Crosman 177 Vortex. It'll be interesting to see how my prototype works.
Cheers
