Misunderstood, mislabeled, misrepresented, missold.
This is often mislabeled as a transparency "scanner". It is NOT a scanner, it is a backlight adapter for an HP 4600 or 4670 scanner to allow it to scan transparencies. Do not purchase this item thinking you will be able to scan with it, you cannot, unless you already own the scanner it is made to work with.

Just waht I needed!
Our 1980's garage door remote quit working reliably, but the opener itself still worked great from the wall switch. It is impossible to get anything compatible any more, and I didn't feel like spending $200+ for a complete new opener just because of the remote, as well as having to install the whole thing. This was the perfect solution. The wires to the wall switch were concealed within the wall, making it awkward to clip it onto those wires as they suggest. So I just added this unit at the screw terminals where those wires attach at the opener unit. It simply provides a remote switch in parallel to the wall switch. It couldn't work better!
