Great classic book for children
I bought it for my 9 yr old grandson just after we took him on a grandchild trip to NYC. It was perfect. I read it to him while we were there. He loved the story of Eloise and her antics in the Plaza Hotel. We visited the hotel twice because he was so taken with this book and wanted to see where Eloise had lived. It was particularly well done as the author and illustrator both lived in the Plaza while putting the book together so they really caught the essence of living there. There is actually a plaque on the side of the hotel commemorating Eloise. I read the book when it first came out and it is just as timely now as it was then. I had taken the book out of the library for the trip but my grandson loved it so much that I purchased it afterward so he would always have it. It was in amazingly perfect condition.

Very funny guy about the locals.
A must read before going to Homer. Better are his tapes as he is hilarious reading his material.

Timely for a visit to NYC
I borrowed this book from the library to take with us on a grandchild trip to NYC. We were staying at Times Square and I thought my grandson would like the book. We did not end up reading it, though it came recommended by the librarian, because it did not get our attention as others we took did. We left the book by mistake in the seat pocket of the airplane on the way home so I had to buy it to replace it for the library. I must say that Ebay's copy by far was in better condition than the library's.
