Misleading Label
Label states the bowl is “non-porous”, meaning it should be smooth on the inside part (where water or food is to be placed), and it most certainly is NOT. It is rough, textured, and has several holes and oddly shaped grooves that I believe are from bubbles in the material when it was manufactured and cooled. And that is just the inside part, the bottom that sits on substrate is absolutely puckered with large, deep pockets and “bubble holes”. Not easy for cleaning AT ALL! The holes on the inside part will catch food and are pockets for bacteria and fungi to grow, and the holes on the bottom will pick up substrate and be hard to clean of ecoearth/aspen/etc. If you use paper towel this may not be an issue but the inside part will certainly need special effort for truly thorough cleaning.
I will have to sand it down until smooth before I feel fully safe using this product for my snake. I don’t want anything weird growing in his water bowl and with all the hidden nooks and crannies I just can’t be certain it is fully clean even after a good scrub or run in the dishwasher. If I could upload pictures with my review, I would, because it’s pretty ridiculous to call this product “nonporous”. And I am normally a fan of Fluker’s products.
Bottom line: Do not buy. Riddled with holes, grooves, and nooks, which are unsanitary and hard to clean. Not worth the time and effort to modify, or the time and effort to clean as-is. Just buy another, better, food or water dish. Thankfully I only spent .06 cents (plus shipping) on auction for this, because I will not be using it. The item is otherwise as described.
