Yamaha, that "Natural Sound"!
2 of 2 found this helpful I purchase this product to be part of a Yamaha system. As to what I like about it, I enjoy it's 8x oversampling, in comparison with the 4x oversampling of my previous deck, excellent clarity, highly detailed, extremely low "noise floor"(Note: You would want to put better interconnect cables on this unit than what comes in the box). As to dislikes, non really. As it is a dual deck, I'd like to find out if there's a continuous play/loop option for both drawers. As this is a recording deck, my primary purpose in purchasing it is transfer vinyl/analog to CD/digital, the deck I used prior was playback only, and as for playback this deck "blows" the prior "Smooth out of the water".

Vibration isolation, Turntables and noise floor... structural vibration via the supporting structure.
I found it far more effective in lower the noise floor during playback to isolate the turntable by placing one pad under each foot (4), than to use those (4) pads in conjunction with a platform in which to set the turntable on. As to solid state components research "Microphonics" and their effect on capacitors and other internal components.
Microphonics or microphony describes the phenomenon wherein certain components in electronic devices transform mechanical vibrations into an undesired electrical signal (noise). The term comes from analogy with a microphone, which is intentionally designed to convert vibrations to electrical signals.
