Well built and does a very good job.
I researched stump grinders for some time before deciding on this one. I am not in the stump removal business, but I have 10 acres of pine trees and the pine beetles are killing so many of our trees, I needed a way to get rid of the stumps after I take the dead trees down. Do to my age, I knew I didn't have the stamina to rent one and do all my stumps together at one time. These machines will give you a real workout when you are grinding a large stump, so I figured I could use this machine as much as I needed and when the time comes, I can probably sell it and get some of my money back. This machine is powerful and the engine starts right away. I did build a removable tow bar that I use my ATV to pull the grinder to the stump, since this machine is heavy and not fun to move around by hand.

Receiver is good, Shipping Package not so good.
1 of 1 found this helpful I already had one of these, so I was familiar with it's feature set. It does what it should do without any major issues. The only complaint I had was the way it is packaged from the manufactor. The box is skimpy and the inside partitions are not strong enough for the ruff treatment it got with UPS shipping. When I got it, the box was damaged and one of the small plastic hinges on the front access door was broken. I kept the unit because trying to return it for another would be more cost than having the door hinge new...I don't plan to open the door anyway.

A nice upgrade
I have one of the pre 1982 models of the MEC 600 Jr presses, so I was looking at the new version and trying to figure out what I could adapt to my version that would speed the loading process up some. This is one of the items that I purchased to update my machine. It performs a function that removes one manual step, since you don't have to push the wad guide down before inserting the wad. I also added the auto primer dispenser, the new style bushing slide bar (the one with small rubber like insert near the shot), and the new "U" shaped ejector system. All of these upgrades brought my old machine back to new life.
