Good test kit.
Have a dodgy usb charger, then this is for you. Plug device into the USB port of the device and then you can run two cables out to peripherals and see the vlotage and amps drawn . I had a flakey charger and this showed to me something wrong, amps 0, volts 5, charger defunct.

Does the job...
For a cheap file server does the job. Its not the fastest out of the block, but for under £50 with two drive bays cannot complain. Takes 2 x 4Tb and probably bigger, but thats what I used. Running in JBOD (Just a Bunch of Drives) with two volumes - I put a 4TB in and added one later, if I wanted RAID, I would have to back up the data and reformat, which I was not prepared to do. Its's quiet, even with both drives in.
Setup is not easy if you don't know what you are doing. Zyxel provide a windows software solution to do this which I didn't use, preferring to go through my browser to setup.
Overall a good bit of kit, firmware could be better and user friendly to the uninitiated, but it works for me.

Compact UPS with 2 UK sockets
1 of 1 found this helpful OK, I need a UPS to keep a router on when there is a power outage, usually a tripped RCD. This is a small and robuts unit with basic features. There are only 2 UK plug sockets and thats it, so you wont need IEC kettle adaptors (male to female), 1 USB port and a line in/out surge protector for RJ11 phoneline. It is a basic unit, so no fancy LCD showning battery status, just an LED and warning beeps when its running off battery. It will take a maximum of 360w, so is ideal if you want a router or NAS server (like a QNAP/Synology type diskstation attached), or even a small PC with flat screen - I would not risk it on a PC with all the bells and whistles, as a big video card may draw 200w, CPU 125w and that is pushing too close to the limit this unit can support. I plugged it in and left it on to 'charge' up as per instructions for 6 hours, put the router on it alondg with a switch, tested it a few days later and it works.
So Pros:
Its not big, but about the size of a large shoebox - not big for a UPS
Its not too heavy, but its no lightweight
It holds its charge (but it is new so I expected that, from experience some dont)
Its cheap
Delivery was exceptional!
Cons:
It is branded but OEM this is why I knocked a star off. Synology Diskstation or openmediavault don't see it through USB. This limits options of a 'soft' turn off of the NAS which is one of the main reasons why people use these things. However if your power comes up quickly, it does the job.
Overall, if you want that little bit of protection for a router etc this fits the bill. PC or NAS - check power and compatibilty, unless you get power back on ASAP, or can power down manually.
I recommend it!
