They fit the E60 OEM HID housings, kind of.....
**Update 03/29/23**
***One of the units failed last night. The resistor was blistering hot and the light was totally dead. That would be a fire hazard and a very bad situation should it burn the vehicle or any of it's components. To last less than 6 months is ludicrous, but what's worse is that the seller asked me to return them, leaving my car with missing lights and gaping socket holes while I wait for them to slowly process an RMA (which it's not a return, it's a warranty exchange), and on top of that, they want to assess a shipping charge. I would not recommend this seller or these lights. My initial review was already critical enough of the process to even get them installed, now I have a failure early on. Looks like I will spring for the Ziza's and have some level of comfort in the product. Please see the additional images of their absurd requests ***
If you have an E60 and plan to use these in the HID/Xenon OEM housings, be ready for some efforts to get them in. The overall appearance is good, longevity, time will tell. I just received and installed these today 11/04. To say they were easy and straight forward to install would be a bold lie. First off, there are NO included instructions, so if you aren't mechanically inclined, keep searching these aren't the lights for you. Second, they are about 8mm too long to go in the oem hid housings without major headaches to fit them.
I wound up pulling the entire housings out of the nose to make it easier to install these and man was it necessary. Why was it necessary you ask? Here's why: First thing first, be very cautious about tackling this in an E60 because the wiring is garbage. The insulation will literally fall right off the wires you need to move in the housings to fit these. So with that said here's why it was necessary to pull the lights out of the car. The LED heatsinks are about 8-10mm too long to simply drop in place. The oem halogen bulb these replace has a tapered rear area and these are uniform cylinder shaped, so they wind up hitting the connectors for the HID ballast in the base of the housings. They simply won't fit. You have to pull the ballasts, pop the connector out of the base and move aside, install the led, then put the plug assembly back in place. Once the led is seated, the clearance is there for the plug, but you will have to do that process again to pull the led out if need be.
When you disturb these brittle wires, you find out real fast what kind of a treat you are truly in for. I had to cut all the leads for the Halogen high beam connectors as well the parking lamp wiring, flake off the insulation and re-cover with heat shrink and solder back together. Even one of the fiber leads had the insulation flaking off. Total pain in the rear to do, but it's now done. If yours are original and have never been touched, be ready to tackle this or face all sorts of electrical gremlins from exposed wiring. See the pix to understand. It's a know problem in this generation of BMW, and it's not fun to mess with. Also, I mounted the drivers on the inside of the cover that you have to remove to access the bulbs, so if you are trying to sort where to put them, that's the place. Fits perfectly, just use some 3M molding tape and they'll stay put.
Once you have them all installed, wiring fixed up and the housings back in the car, they light up great! Not too bright, not too dim and a clean white..No ugly halogen yellow tones! Really cleans up the look of the car to be honest. No codes are thrown, no warnings in the cluster, just clean light projecting from the angel eyes.
To summarize, I would recommend them based on the look so far, but time will tell if they will hold up or fail pre-maturely. We will see. The price is fair for what you get as they feel sturdy and solid, not flimsy or cheap like most items coming from their origin. Just be prepared to dig in a little deeper than a simple bulb swap if you have the same generation bimmer. I'd gladly have given them 5 stars had they fit as expected and not needed me to remove the hid ballast connectors to fit them in first. Shorten the heatsink and these would be perfect.
