Made in Taiwan / Customer support directly from Taiwan, that says it all.
This router was defective right out of the plastic rapped box. It had about five dead pixels on the tiny picture frame display. It also had gouges and scrapes on the plastic piece that covers the lcd display. D-link customer care and technical support reads directly from the pages of their manual and regardless of the fact that these defects were a manufacturer defect they would not fix it or allow me to replace it because it was purchased from Ebay and not from a qualified D-link store. Customer support initially took all the information and serial number and agreed that it was within the 1 year and had agreed to replace it until I told them that i purchased it new from an Ebay seller and then they changed their tune and said "we no take return because u buy from ebay".
D-LINK DIR-685 WIRELESS ROUTER IS MADE IN TAIWAN AND THEIR QUALITY IS TERRIBLE, THIS ROUTER WENT ALL THE WAY THROUGH ASSEMBLY TO BE BOXED WITH GOUGES AND SCRAPES ON THE LCD COVER.
THE SCREEN IS PATHETICALLY SMALL AND YOU BETTER HOPE THAT IT DOES NOT HAVE EVEN A SINGLE DEAD PIXEL OR THE WHITE SPOT WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY AND YOU WILL NOT WANT TO USE IT TO DISPLAY A PICTURE.
D-LINK SHOULD JUST CLOSE THE DOORS IN TAIWAN BECAUSE THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS ARE TERRIBLE.
I WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER D-LINK PRODUCT EVER AGAIN EVEN IF THEY WERE THE LAST MANUFACTURER ON THE PLANET.
Nothing beats Cisco/Linksys, I am a loyal Cisco/Linksys customer from here on out.

Magellan Maestro 4000 GPS
The unit works very good although when new maps for the unit get released it cost $90 for the map upgrade. Firmware upgrades are free but the map upgrade cost almost as much as a new Unit. I actually broke the unit while upgrading the firmware but upon contacting Magellan they were very quick to fix the issue. I would buy a Magellan GPS again but personally I would never pay to upgrade the maps.
