FLEX PIPE AUDI A2 TDI
1 of 1 found this helpful So I have completed the job. straight forwards but you do need to take the exhaust off the back of the turbo.
Cut the exhaust first near the CAT but leave enough pipe to slot the repair pipe over what is left.
Undo the four bolts and remove the rest of the remaining exhaust from the back of the turbo.
Cut the other end of the rot flex off the pipe leaving enough pipe to slot the repair pipe over.
I cut it at the turbo end and left the flared flange. I later removed the flared section of weld using an angle grinder.
Then tidy up both ends of the existing exhaust pipe with an angle grinder and file.
The new flex pipe will need to be also cut and new grooves cut in it.
You can the temporarily do a trial run to see if everything matches up and can be installed with relative ease.
You can now fit your new exhaust gasket on the back of the turbo. Use exhaust fixing paste to put everything together. I clamped the turbo end flex section up before fitting it to the car. Watch out that you position the clamp so it does not foul the steering rack heat shield. Use some mole grips to clamp the other end of the flex and slide it on to the CAT side. Clamp up put the rubber hangers back on and your done.
Congratulations!
That took me two half days to complete.
I used ,
Dremel Grinder
5" angle grinder & cutting discs
work lamp
axle stands
socket set
wet and dry paper
mole grips
exhaust paste
Exhaust gasket
Box to hold the exhaust off the ground
