A Very Different, Distant God
I wanted to get deep into this study and was really looking for the perspective of a female theologian. I'd heard good things about Ccohick, so I was really looking forward to this study. However, eventually I had to give it up and donated it to my local Goodwill (which is ironic considering that I originally purchased it from a Goodwill through ebay).
This study uses a very odd translation of the Bible that I was unfamiliar with, but eventually lost my all of respect and patience. The Common English Bible seems to be along the same lines as The Message and imagines that the Bible is far too scholarly and written on far too high a level for us little peons. We need to have it watered WAY down for us to even have a hope of understanding it. Thank heavens these self-appointed scholars came along to rescue us. ;-)
A frustrating thing about this study, and the CEB, is a flat-out refusal to refer to God as anything other than "God." I felt like I was reading at a 1st grade level. This "God" is never referred to as "He." Ever. Only "God." As if our Father, who even refers to His very self in the masculine, is some sort of distant, alien life form void of anything personal, like gender, and incapable of being related to in any way. After reading sentence after sentence like "God loves God's people so God sent God's representative...." I gave up. (Note: That is a generic example and was NOT taken directly from the book). A 5th grade Language Arts teacher would've graded Ccohick's work very harshly.
Surely there is something between this kind of highly liberal redefined God who seems to have been created in the image of the "scholars" who came up with the transliteration that is the CEB and the touchy-feely studies offered by female theologians in the Christian bookstores. The search continues....

Too much fun!!!
1 of 1 found this helpful I bought this because I had done the show on Fit TV a few times and really had a lot of fun, so I thought I might like a full-length video. I'm so glad I did because this is sooooo much fun!!!!!! It is unlike any other fitness workout on the market, currently. The movements are mentally challenging (because they are so different) and pretty easy to catch on to. The first few times I felt a little awkward, but if I can catch on fast, anyone can. It is a great workout for the abs and legs, especially. If you are looking for something that is highly effective, but different from step, hip-hop, etc., this is the video for you. Enjoy!
