Shure SRH940 Closed-Back Pro Studio Reference Headphones

Prefect for reference headphones

I love the headphones for my purpose which is referencing tracks and instruments. I would not recommend these as pleasure listening headphones. The music can sound a little sterile. By no means are they inaccurate, but if there is a minor flaw in the recording or headphone amplifier you WILL hear the flaw. First impression just listening on a mobile device was lack luster even on lossless file compression. The it dawned on me the the headphone amp was the lack luster portion. I was right. Same song on a proper headphone amp and the headphones sounded more dynamic. Still sterile, but that is what I need. You can listen on a mobile device. It is not like they are power hungry like the 250 ohm 880’s. Just be prepared to hear flaws in either the recording work playback device. I have a larger head. 7-7/8 hat size. The band is very comfortable which can be an issue for us with big melons. This is my first pair with detachable cord. Not a big fan of removing the cord every time I want to put them back into their protective home. The protective case is well constructed, but large. It does not fit well into my backpack for live gigs. In a perfect world, the case would fit in the front pocket of your jeans, but we live in a world of compromise. I cannot say this enough. Awesome reference headphones. I love them.

Great case for the money. Excellent value. Just wish for a bit more room for wall wart power cord.
