Excellent purchase
This is the best gaming purchase I have made this year. A great console with excellent games at decent prices including: Binding of Isaac, Super Meat Boy, Wipeout 2048 (plus Wipeout HD and expansion pack Wipeout: Fury), WRC series, Persona 4 Golden, Hotline Miami 2, Gravity Rush and many more. You can also purchase and play games from the PSP (PlayStation Portable) era, such as Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Persona 3, Grand Theft Auto: Stories serieis and a raft more. As well as these past games you can buy and play games from the PSone days as you can on the PlayStation 3. The controls will be a little clunky wo get used to with non-analogue compatible games, but that will not detract from playing through Metal Gear Solid again. Snake? Snake?! SNAAAAAKE!
The negative side to the Vita is the cost of the PlayStation memory card that is mandatory if you want to play a game that has a file size larger than 1GB. The 16GB card costs approximately £41; other manufacturers charge approx. £5-6 (on Amazon) for 16GB card. This is an extortionate price and severally disappointing that you cannot just plug in and play with the handheld and a card you have yourself, but have to pay Sony another £40 for the privilege.
The hardware pleasant and comfortable to use. It is light but solid, screen has great levels of brightness in all but direct(ish) sunlight, buttons never wobble or appear loose, analogue sticks are an amazing piece of design and the shoulder buttons are perfect. The only issue that can arrise is finding the right hand position for yourself to avoid any discomfort. If you are experiencing pins and needles or cramp after only half an hour, then it is time to think of a new holding style.
This is arguably the best handheld gaming console on the market today. A must buy for any intermediate to serious gamer and for any long time PlayStation fans.
