Pretty and practical
First of all, they're gorgeous! They have a slight sheen, and they go with most any decor. They are also sturdy, and wipe clean. They are mesh-like and see through, but they efficiently catch the crumbs and it is easy to pick up the placemat and discard the crumbs.

High quality and totally worth it!
I tried an inexpensive mouse pad that claimed it was gel, but it was totally cheap quality. It is worth the extra few dollars to get a brand-name, quality item that does what it says it does. It provides sturdy support for the wrist and is well-made.

Excellent argument for Intelligent Design
I thought this presentation was excellent. It provided an overall view of the issues being raised about the "Intelligent Design Controversy" and did a marvelous job at providing physical evidence to support each point. At the same time, Ben Stein is genuinely funny in many of the segments, and he puts many of the people he interviews at ease with his casual demeanor. This DVD is a MUST SEE for everyone over the age of 7!
