I bought a used 4gb for ~155$ shipped. Very solid sturdy well-built player. The screen is amazing. Video looks amazing. Customizable wallpaper is great. Viewing angles are good. The stylus doubles as a kickstand with a built in slot. Touch screen is easy to use but is helped by programmable buttons on the top. SD-HC(high-capacity) card slot helps for unlimited storage(8gb~45$, 16gb~$95). Battery life is excellent, rated at around 52 hours audio, 10 hours video. These numbers are likely not going to be reached because my unit is used. Also, most of my files are .flac encoded and the bitrate is high(~700kbps) and the brightness is on around 50%. I can probably manage around 40 but I have no plans to clock it.
Overall A very good player for someone into videos and music with future plans to expand. Unfortunately they don't market so they have no chance of catching up to Apple but who cares...if the player works well for you, it's good. Definitely consider investing in some in-ear headphones(stay away from Skullcandy, philips, sony and even bose because of high price and/or low quality) such as Ultimate Ear, Shure, Sennheiser, or MylarOne. Definitely read up on those to find one that fits your needs. They're well wortht the money and will drown out noise very well.

Steer clear if you want something reliable or buy new
I had this for a month and went back to my old phone(lg8300). A minor issue is the size. With the extended battery, which is almost necessary, it's a tank. But the REAL problem is the lock-ups. I turn the phone off. I turn it back on. The VZW screen appears. The Windows Mobile screen then appears. And sits. AND SITS.
Also, you can be in the middle of a basic process such as checking your contacts, and it will freeze(happened to me). Then you have to pop out the battery and repower the player. And it will likely sit. Some people I know who have newer smartphones don't have to deal with this.
Overall I'd say just buy a normal flip/bar/slide phone and buy a pda on the side because if your smartphone locks up that means you can NOT make calls.
