Wonderful, Complex Collection

This wonderful collection is filled with everyone's children's favorites--Totoro, Spirited Away, Ponyo--and other beautiful but more serious films such as The Graveyard of the Fireflies about the suffering of children in WWII-era Japan and the environmental classic Princess Mononoke. Anyone in the least enchanted by brilliant, meticulous animation will love this bargain set. It has the wonder of classic Disney without the trite characters or heavy-handed rewriting of the original works.

Patience Brewster Whimsy

Buying a friend a 12 Days of Christmas French Hen a few years ago, she was so delighted she joked that I should give her one a year. Taking her at her word, I have and she has been tickled with Patience Brewster's creative humor in each of the ornaments based upon a verse of this Christmas carol (and drinking song?). Ms. Brewster has even found a way to make five golden rings funny. I can't wait to give her this adorable ornament with its characteristic attention to detail and fey point of view.
