The Definitive War Machine Figure
I just started collecting action figures from various franchises that I love and my collection was seriously lacking in the Marvel department so I started shopping around and that's when I discovered the RE:EDIT line and their take on War Machine. Even though the price was a little steep, every review and photo gallery I saw with this figure made me fall in love with it even more so I took the plunge and bought it and I am proud to report that this is one of the best looking and most fun collectibles I've ever owned. Let's get into it.
Pros:
- The Sculpt and Attention to Detail: This figure just looks awesome. I love how it takes inspiration from the comics and from the Marvel movies and all of the details sculpted into the figure are great to look at too. This figure also has a seamless blend of diecast metal and plastic going on for it too which makes it feel more like a collectible and less like a toy. Plus the eyes and the arch reactor light up!
- Accessories: What would War Machine be without his machines of war? All of the weapons he has, plus a ton of interchangeable hands make this figure even more fun to play with. Speaking of playing with...
- Fun factor/Articulation: I had so much fun posing this figure every which way and back. If you have a War Machine pose in mind, chances are that you'll be able to get this figure in that pose. It does take some time to figure out exactly how his joints move, but once you get past that you'll be posing this figure for hours.
Cons:
-Flight Stand: While the hall of Armor display stand looks phenomenal, the flight stand itself has a lot to be desired. It's fine if you just want W.M in a pose where both of his feet are on the ground, but it's very difficult to get him into any great flight poses because the flight stand just isn't strong enough to support him off of the ground. I did manage to get him into some decent flight poses, but I didn't leave him posed like that for long because I was afraid the flight stand would give.
- Price: Make no mistake, this is a 7 inch action figure you're buying here and while I have had a ton of fun with this figure and am having zero regrets with this purchase (I paid $170), I still think the price is a little steep. If money is no object for you, then by all means go out and get this figure! But if you're on a budget, I suggest waiting for someone to put this up for a bid at a much lower price.
Overall, this is one of the best figures I've ever owned and I'm glad I had the means to purchase him for my collection. I would highly recommend this to fans of Marvel, Iron Man, War Machine, or superheroes in general if you have the means to do so.
Final Score: 4.5/5
